Among all the varieties the most popular ones are the 8-ball pool and 9-ball pool. Though both the games are played on a normal-sized pool table with six pockets it is the 8-ball pool that achieved great fame.

In the 8-ball pool game, individuals get to contest in singles or doubles. The game is played with cues and 16 balls (15 object balls and 1 cue ball). Anybody can master this pool game if they are well equipped with the right skills and tactics. Earlier people used to go to local pool halls or pubs to play this game. However, now that we have the entire world at our fingertips, we can play an 8 ball pool even online. GetMega app is one such online gaming platform that comes loaded with a variety of casual gaming setups including GoPool, Carrom, Fruit Kaat and Warship.

In case you are a beginner and want to decipher accurate details about the individual game, you are on the right page. Read on to know more about the 8 ball pool game and scratch rules related to the same.

Game objective

The 8 ball pool is a shot game that is played with one cue ball and 15 object balls of numbers 1 to 15. A player must pot the designated balls (either solid or stripes) and then proceed to pocket the 8 numbered ball. The player who pockets his/her group of balls in the first place and then legally pockets the 8 numbered ball wins the game.

Scoring

In an 8 ball pool game, a player continues to score till he has successfully pocketed all of his designated balls and finally, the ball numbered as 8 into the pocket that he has chosen. The scores are recorded based on the number of matches they have played. For instance, in the best of 9 frame match, whoever reaches the five frame will be declared the winner.

Winning situations

A player can be considered as the winner in the 8 ball pool game when one of the following situations occur:

  • The most popular one perhaps. When a player successfully pockets all of his designated balls and then legally pockets the ball numbered as 8 into a chosen pocket.
  • When an opponent player manages to illegally pot the ball number 8 before clearing his own set of balls.
  • When the opposition knocks the 8 numbered ball off the table.

Now that you know the basics of the 8 ball pool game, let’s get into more details about the rules associated with this game.

Rules of Pool

The rules slightly differ from one country to another in terms of players or scoring. However, to maintain the uniformity of this game, the World Pool Billiard Association (WPA) has laid down a standardised set of rules for both newbie and professional pool players which they must follow. Below listed are the standard rules of an 8 ball pool game.

  • Before the game starts, the object balls must be placed within a triangular rack and arranged at the foot of the gaming table in a way that the apex ball is at the lower end with the ball numbered as 8 placed at the heart of the triangle. The order of the other balls should be random. Also, the white ball must be placed behind the service line of the table.
  • After placing the balls in a triangular rack, players must break the rack. To decide who will break the rack you can call for a toss. Whoever wins the toss must hit the balls first and ensure that 4 balls hit the cushion and that the cue ball doesn’t get pocketed. During the break, if the ball which is numbered as 8 goes into the nominated pocket, the player can call for a re-rack.
  • The player who pockets an object ball first will have to continue pocketing balls from the same category (stripes or solid). After his turn, the opposing player can make his move.
  • Another vital thing that one must follow in an 8 ball pool game is the 8 ball scratch rules. If a person commits a foul or scratch, the opposition player can place the cue ball anywhere on the table. There are several rules regarding scratches or fouls in the 8 ball pool game. If a player fails to hit his own object ball then it’s a scratch. If the player hits the cue ball off the table then that calls for a foul. If a player pots one of the opposition’s objects balls then that is considered as a scratch. It is a foul when a player pushes the cue ball instead of striking it. Also, when a player takes a shot even if it’s not their turn, it is a scratch.

Now that you are well accustomed to the entire set-up of the 8 ball pool game, do abide by the same to make wise decisions and get yourself declared as a champion who never loses a single game.

How to Up Your Game Developer Game

Game developers live and breathe gaming. It seems to be that the prerequisite for becoming a game developer is not necessarily a talent for coding, but rather a deep passion for gaming. If you’re the type of person who understands the pure joy of losing oneself in a video game for days on end; if you value the art of storytelling; if your imagination can take flight and soar above the ordinary into the extraordinary, you could be just who the industry is looking for. In this article, we’re going to help you go from game dreamer to game developer by passing on a few tips that we’ve gleaned from the professionals.

Know Your Games

If you’re hoping to develop a new, exciting game, you need to know as much about the industry as possible. The first step is to familiarise yourself with every aspect of gaming. Play as many games as you can and learn the ins and outs of all the different genres of gaming. Check out multi-player games, role playing games, first-person shooter games, fantasy games, and world-builder games. Get to grips with puzzle games and educational games. And don’t dismiss casino games.

The gambling industry is huge, and gambling software developers are some of the most innovative developers in the gaming industry. If you don’t fancy signing up for a casino account, check out the games at no account casinos; you’ll find some excellent ones at https://mrcasinova.com/no-account-casinos/. Learn as much as you can about how all these games work and try to understand what makes them so popular. The more you know about the games, the more you’ll come to understand the people that are playing these games. This knowledge could be invaluable when it comes to designing your own game, no matter which genre you eventually decide to go for.

Learn Your Craft

Yes, we know we said that coding isn’t everything, but that doesn’t mean that its not important. You need to learn all that you can about coding because it will help you understand what you can and can’t do when it comes to developing your game. Even if you end up getting someone else to help you with coding, it’s a good idea to have a basic idea of how it all works. Start off by learning how to create basic games, like Tetris, for example. And then move on to bigger, more intricate games. Watch videos of professional game developers – they are surprisingly generous with sharing their skills and you’ll find plenty of YouTube videos on game development.

If possible, get a job or an internship at a big software company and learn as much as you can from the professionals who work there. A good software company will be staffed with people who know everything there is to know about gaming, and about the people playing those games. And you will soon learn whether your idea for a game has any chance of making it in such a fiercely competitive industry.

Take the Time to Perfect Your Game

Once you’ve developed your idea into a working prototype, we recommend that you play your game as much as possible. You should also give your game to a few trusted friends or family members to play. The more you play your game, the better you will understand which elements truly work and which elements need to be scrapped. Feedback from friends and family is also invaluable because sometimes, as a game developer, you can be too close to your game to see it clearly. You may be emotionally attached to certain aspects of gameplay or storyline, or even a character, that just doesn’t work. It’s not easy, but you need to be ruthless when it comes to cutting away the dead weight. Play, perfect, play, perfect, until you get it right. Then, and only then, should you show it to a company or release it out into the world.

The Best New Careers in Technology

Published

on

The latest advances in technology benefit our lives and careers in many ways. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of living in such exciting times is that the technology-related jobs market is constantly evolving to reflect the new opportunities that arise.

What are some of the best new careers in technology that simply didn’t exist in the past or that have become far more widespread than before? The following are some of the jobs that have become far more common and seem certain to carry on growing in the near future.

Blockchain Engineer/Developer

This new industry has exploded in popularity in the last few years. Research carried out by The Block in 2019 showed that over 40% of people working in the blockchain industry were employed by crypto exchanges. However, many banks, governments, and other organisations are also starting to use this type of cutting-edge technology to improve their processes.

There is a variety of types of roles in the industry, with blockchain engineer one of the most appealing. This is a job that involves creating or improving blockchain applications, with some of the main skills needed being web development, data architecture, and a cryptography background. One of the most interesting aspects of the blockchain industry just now is the lack of skilled workers ready to take on the growing number of roles becoming available.

This is why blockchain training has become such a hot subject lately, and why it is one of the best-paying roles in the technology world.  Reports of the average UK salary vary, with a figure of around £50,000 most commonly stated. In the US, a salary of $150,000 upwards is quoted as the average.

Data Scientist

This is a job that involves bringing together and then analysing huge volumes of data, to improve the company’s decision making. It requires a variety of skills, such as data visualisation, statistics, reporting, data mining, and communication. The overall aim is to gain valuable insights through a better understanding of large quantities of data.

The reason that this role has come to the fore in recent times is that many businesses have identified the power and importance of workers with knowledge of big data in the modern business world. The role of data has grown enormously in the last few years, as more sophisticated ways have been found to use it wisely.

The top country in terms of numbers of data scientists being recruited is the US, followed by India in second place. This means that the average salary on offer in these countries is steadily increasing. Most major companies now have data scientists working for them, while even more modestly-sized firms can see benefits from doing this.

Game Developer

The huge scale of the gaming industry can be seen in the fact that a 12% compound annual growth rate is expected between 2020 and 2025. The increasing importance of virtual reality and the blockchain are a couple of the main reasons why this is such a vibrant industry. In terms of video games, there are top companies located all over the world, such as Nintendo in Japan, Valve in the US, and Ubisoft in France.

In 2017, it was noted that about 2,500 companies in this industry directly or indirectly supported 220,000 jobs in the US. Another area with interesting prospects is the casino games industry, with the online gambling market predicted to grow from $US58.9 billion in 2019 to over $66.5 billion in 2020 according to ResearchandMarkets.

The VegasSlotsOnline site shows that top slots developers include names such as IGT, Bally, Playtech, and Red Tiger. It is noted that they each have their brand style and create many new games each year. Some of these firms are based in the UK, the US, and Malta, while other locations for the biggest companies in this industry include Sweden, Costa Rica, and Estonia. As such, the location shouldn’t be a limiting factor.

Platform Engineer

There is currently some debate over whether platform engineer is a completely new type of role, or if it is simply the type of job previously carried out by site reliability engineers in an infrastructure team. The truth is that it doesn’t particularly matter, as it remains a highly attractive and challenging job with excellent salary prospects all over the world.

Part of the reason for the lack of clarity mentioned earlier is that there are differing opinions on what these people do. The general scope of this role is to make it easier for end-users to get hold of the software the company provides, but the exact duties can vary widely according to the specific needs of each company.

This can mean that the platform engineers control how they shift over to a new system, or how they roll out a new application to their customer base. As with all of these roles, the experience and skills required by employers will vary according to their needs, but programming, research, and communication are three of the key areas to expect in just about any position of this type.

As the business world continues to take advantage of the latest types of technology, we can look forward to more exciting opportunities, such as those above, appearing all over the planet.
