Distributed Computing<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Distributed computing is a type of computing where multiple computer systems work on a single problem. Parallel Computing<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1354\" data-end=\"1840\">Parallel computing is defined as computing where multiple processors (or cores) execute instructions simultaneously. It breaks a problem into sub-problems, then further into instructions, and executes them concurrently.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1354\" data-end=\"1840\"><strong data-start=\"1618\" data-end=\"1626\">Goal<\/strong>: save time and provide concurrency.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1354\" data-end=\"1840\"><strong data-start=\"1703\" data-end=\"1714\">Example<\/strong>: When I\u2019m rendering 3D graphics or working with GPU intensive tasks, many cores work in parallel \u2014 that\u2019s parallel computing.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1354\" data-end=\"1840\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-19977 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kaashivinfotech.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/parallel_computing.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"604\" height=\"250\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"1847\" data-end=\"1872\">3. Cluster Computing<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1873\" data-end=\"2293\">A cluster is a group of independent computers that work together to perform the tasks given.<br \/>\nCluster computing is defined as a type of computing that consists of two or more independent computers, referred to as nodes, that work together to execute tasks as a single machine.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1873\" data-end=\"2293\"><strong data-start=\"2043\" data-end=\"2051\">Goal<\/strong>: increase performance, scalability and simplicity.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1873\" data-end=\"2293\"><strong data-start=\"2143\" data-end=\"2154\">Example<\/strong>: During a hackathon, our team used a cluster setup of four computers to reduce build times drastically. The entire network acts like a \u201cvirtual supercomputer\u201d.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2323\" data-end=\"2814\">Grid computing is defined as a type of computing where it is constitutes a network of computers that work together to perform tasks that may be difficult for a single machine to handle. Some processing is done on the user\u2019s device, IoT device or \u201cedge\u201d server instead of a distant cloud.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3300\" data-end=\"3831\">Edge computing is defined as the type of computing that is focused on decreasing the long distance communication between the client and the server. This is done by running fewer processes in the cloud and moving these processes onto a user&#8217;s computer, IoT device or edge device\/server.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3300\" data-end=\"3831\"><strong data-start=\"3532\" data-end=\"3540\">Goal<\/strong>: bring computation closer to devices to reduce latency and improve real-time interaction.<br data-start=\"3670\" data-end=\"3673\" \/><strong data-start=\"3673\" data-end=\"3684\">Example<\/strong>: In a smart-home project I built, motion sensors processed data locally (edge) before sending summary info to the cloud. It enables allocation of resources, applications and data closer to the devices but still within a networked structure.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3860\" data-end=\"4368\">Fog computing is defined as the type of computing that acts a computational structure between the cloud and the data producing devices. It is widely distributed, network-based and used for storage.<\/p>\n<p>There type of cloud are public, private, hybrid and community and some cloud providers are Google cloud, AWS, Microsoft Azure and IBM cloud.<br data-start=\"4605\" data-end=\"4608\" \/><strong data-start=\"4608\" data-end=\"4616\">Goal<\/strong>: provide scalable, widely-distributed, network-based computing resources.<br data-start=\"4730\" data-end=\"4733\" \/><strong data-start=\"4733\" data-end=\"4744\">Example<\/strong>: My blog is hosted on a cloud server. I don\u2019t manage physical hardware.
